In 1964, the Educational Opportunity Program was introduced at UC Berkeley as a faculty initiative to support the disproportionately small numbers of first-generation college and low-income students admitted to the University.

EOP provides specialized resources designed to address the needs of:

Low-income students

Pell Grant or Dream Act Scholarship eligible as verified by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office

First-generation college students

Parent(s) / guardian(s) have not graduated from a four-year college or university in the United States
