About Karla: Hello! I am Karla Vega and I’m currently a junior at UC Berkeley majoring in chemical engineering. Before coming to the Bay, I grew up in Zamora, Michoacan. As a first-generation Latina student, I love how welcoming Berkeley is for its Latino/Hispanic community and wish to spread this feeling of love and belonging to my peers. I hope to make students with similar backgrounds feel included, be comfortable, and have a voice in our community. With the help of Sandra, my mentor and LatinX success counselor, we hope to build a community that uplifts one another!

Fun Fact: I love trying new things and getting into new hobbies. I am currently channeling my inner grandma and have been knitting a lot! I also love going to the beach and finding new places to study with friends.
