In 1964, the Educational Opportunity Program was introduced at UC Berkeley as a faculty initiative to support the disproportionately small numbers of first-generation college and low-income students admitted to the University.

Today, undergraduate students who meet ANY of the criteria below are EOP:

Low Income

Pell Grant or Dream Act Scholarship eligible as verified by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office

First Generation College Student

Parent(s) / guardian(s) have not graduated from a four-year college or university in the United States

Historically Underrepresented

African American, Chicano/Latino, Pacific Islander, and/or Native American Students
